Easy to grow - especially for beginners!
What´s special about Shiitake is the fact that Shiitake needs less air humidity in comparison with other cultivated mushrooms. For Shiitake the greenhouse can be replaced by a plastic bag. The ready matured Shiitake mycelium is taken out of the bag for spawn run phase and placed on a plate or similar at room temperature (20-25°C). To avoid drying up a larger bag is placed over the Shiitake mushroom culture, to generate enough air humidity for growing just spray the inside of the bag using a water sprayer.
The Japanese name "Shiitake" consists of the words "Take" (= mushroom) and "Shii" (= Pasania-tree) and means "mushroom that grows on a tree". The Shiitake has originally been domiciled in Japan, Korea and China and his special characteristics are known by the people for more than 2000 years.
Spawn is always made fresh on demand. Production time: 2 to 3 weeks.
This product is fresh produce and should be processed immediatly after delivery.
If the product cannot be processed immediatley, it can be stored in the fridge for a maximum of two weeks.
