Golden Oyster Mushroom


Scientific name: Pleurotus citrinopileatus, Pleurotus cornucopiae var. citrinopileatus   

Synonyms: Lemon Oyster Mushroom, Yellow Oyster Mushroom, Golden Oyster Mushroom, Tamogitake, Il' mak

Distribution and habitat in nature: Mainly found on diseased and dead deciduous trees, native to warmer and subtropical regions of Asia (southern Russia, China, Japan) and Africa.

Ingredients: The Golden Oyster Mushroom is an aromatic, yellow edible mushroom with high nutritional value. It contains high-quality protein, is low in fat, and provides fiber and B vitamins (especially B1, B2, and B3). It is also rich in potassium, iron, and zinc. Like other oyster mushrooms, it contains beta-glucans and antioxidant compounds that can help support the immune system.

Suitable substrate: Straw, paper, coffee grounds, coffee bean pulp, hardwood (poplar, oak, alder, aspen, maple, birch, ash, beech, willow, elm, palm, rubber tree, bamboo)

Usage: Edible mushroom, medicinal mushroom

Lemon oyster mushrooms usually grow in large clusters. Their taste, shelf life, and preparation in the kitchen are comparable to those of “normal” oyster mushrooms, although lemon oyster mushrooms have a tart, bitter taste when fried briefly. However, this bitter taste disappears when the mushrooms are fried in a pan until crispy.
