Organic Winter Mushroom - Flammulina velutipes - Pure Culture

Synonyms: Enotikate (Jap. The Snow Peak Mushroom), Winter mushroom, Enoki-mushroom, Nametake,
    Yuki-motase, Jin Zhen Gu,

The velvet foot is a popular edible mushroom, especially in Asia, known for its small, very tasty fruiting bodies. These have a diameter of 2 - 10cm, with the stalk measuring stalk is 3 - 8cm long. Enotikate is a form of this cultivated mushroom, particularly popular in Asia, where it is grown in darkness. The main characteristics include dense clusters, narrow caps and long stalks, making it easy to harvest. In the wild, this mushroom can be found in almost all temperate and cold regions in the northern hemisphere, such as China, Siberia, Asia Minor, Europe, North America and Japan. In the southern hemisphere, it thrives in Australia.
The cultivation of Enokitake has a long tradition in China and was first documented around 800 AD. At that time, ripe fruiting bodies were rubbed on tree stumps. Apparently, these places often yielded a rich harvest the following year. Of course, the method used today with dowel brood or sawdust brood is more successful!

Pure culture is always made fresh on demand. Production time: 3 to 6 weeks.
This product is fresh produce and should be processed immediately after delivery.
If the product cannot be processed immediately, it can be stored in refrigeration at 4 ºC for a maximum of 2 weeks.
Please consider these timings when placing the order.

You receive living, actively growing, axenic cell culture, entirely free of other strains or contaminating organisms, for further propagation. Our pure cultures are custom-made and produced freshly after ordering -  in a class 100 clean room environment on a solid nutrient medium (MEA) based on plant-derived raw materials. The pure culture needs around 2-3 weeks until its mature enough for shipping. The culture is supplied in special cell culture flasks (Filling volume: 15 ml culture medium, Growth area: 25 cm², Measurements: L x W x H = 79,7 x 42,6 x 26,53 mm) with breathable, hydrophobic membrane. This special design prevents introduction of contaminants and facilitates optimum gas exchange thanks to the high air flow rate of the membrane. With this packaging, the mushroom culture can withstand longer shipping distances and time without compromising quality or germination ability.

This product is intended for professional production of grain spawn  to further propagate this strain of fungi. Working with pure cell culture requires detailed mushroom cultivation skills. For beginners and hobby growers we recommend starting with grain spawn or sawdust spawn.

We highly recommend reading this book - gain further detailed knowledge ofr successful mushroom cultivation:
